Observing Lent
Join us at Sojourn as we observe Lent, a special season in the Church calendar especially marked for prayer, fasting and care for the vulnerable.
Over the course of history, the Church has observed this season as a means of preparing for the Easter celebration. Over the six weeks of Lent, we will lean in together as a church body to learning about lent, fasting and prayer. We will hear sermons and gather for learning spaces that will be focused on this season - its elements, and its blessings.
We invite you to join us in observing Lent:
Ash Wednesday Service on February 18th.
This date and gathering is the beginning of Lent and an opportunity for us to acknowledge our mortality, as well as our need for repentance. On this day we remember the words from Genesis 3:19, “For you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
Join us on Tuesdays 12:00-1:00 pm in the Sanctuary for fasting/prayer.
During Lent, we will pray and fast together as a church body. We invite you to join us on Tuesday to fast from sunrise to sunset.
On Tuesdays, Starting February 24th and continuing through March 31st, the church building will be open from 12 pm - 1 pm for prayer.
Attend the next Learning Space (Wednesday, March 4th)
The focus of the next Learning Space will be on the season of Lent, as well as the practices of fasting and prayer. If Lent or any of these practices are new to you, confusing , or not a part of your discipleship to Jesus, then these spaces will be an especially blessed time for you.
We invite you to join us in one, some, or all of these ways.
