WELCOME TO SOJOURN KIDS!

WHO WE ARE

At Sojourn, we believe that children are important to Jesus. So they are important to us and to our desire to see the gospel impact our entire community. We want to partner with parents to proclaim to the next generation who God is and what He has done for us.  We want to see our children transformed by the gospel and to love Jesus and trust in Him as their rescuer and Lord.

WHAT WE DO

We provide a safe and nurturing environment where our teachers are intentional and prayerful as they care for your children. Our teaching and our music is Bible-based and gospel-centered. Our prayer is that as we walk in obedience to God, he will use us to establish deep roots of faith, hope, and love in the hearts of our children.

WHEN WE GATHER

10:00 a.m. gathering:  Infants through 5th grade are divided into developmentally appropriate age ranges.  Infants, Ones, Two/Threes, PreK(4 yr & 5 yr), K-1st, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-5th.

Please note that children of any age are always welcome to sit with their families upstairs in either gathering.  There is also a nursing Mother's room available upstairs off of the sanctuary.

Questioning if you or your child should join us on Sunday? You can find our illness policy here.

On a typical Sunday morning, here is what you can expect:

  • After entering the building, you will see a check-in counter where you will check-in your children and receive name tag stickers for both parent and children.  (These will be needed to both check-in and check-out your children.)

  • After check-in, you will be guided to the appropriate classes for your children ages 6 months through Pre-K, where they can participate in age-appropriate activities and learning.  They will be received by two volunteers who have been vetted and background-checked.  Children in Kindergarten through 5th grade will join you in the service upstairs until they are dismissed after the musical worship portion.  At this point, their teachers will be waiting outside of the sanctuary to guide them to their appropriate classrooms.

  • Infants, walkers, and toddlers remain in their rooms for the duration of the service, being cared for, playing with toys, reading books, interacting with peers, and singing and dancing to music.  All books, stories told, and music is age-appropriate and points them to God and his love for them.  The walkers and toddlers are offered a gluten-free, dairy-free snack (Cheerios and Chex cereal) as well as water.  If you have any questions or concerns about this, please email Virginia Fobes, the Children’s Director, at virginia@sojournonline.org and she will make sure your child is well cared for.

  • Preschool and Pre-K children are in their rooms for part of the time and in the large-group area for part of the time.  They spend their time in musical worship, prayer, and a large group Bible lesson, as well as small group discussion, prayer, and craft time.  They are with their two volunteers the entire time.  They are also offered a gluten-free, dairy-free snack (Cheerios and Chex cereal) as well as water.  Please email virginia@sojournonline.org if you have any questions or concerns about this.

  • If any child needs to go to the bathroom, the hallway coordinator volunteer will walk them to the bathroom and stand at the main bathroom door with the main bathroom door open while the child goes to the bathroom in their individual bathroom stall.  If the child needs help in the stall, an additional volunteer will come to assist and help, so that two volunteers are always present and aware.

    • For potty-training toddlers, there is a bathroom within their classroom, so when a toddler needs to use the potty, both volunteers will be present and aware to help the child as needed.

  • Kindergarten through 5th grade children, after being a part of the musical worship time upstairs, gather together in their classrooms for fellowship, Bible study, small group discussion, prayer, and a craft or activity.

  • After the service ends in the sanctuary, parents can pick-up their children from their classrooms by presenting their check-in sticker to one of the volunteers in their child’s class.  If you have more than one child, you will use the same sticker to check-out your children from each of their classes.

  • After the service and child pick-up, the whole church will gather outside on our green space for fellowship and playtime.  We would love for you to join us during this time so that we can get to know each other more!
