Local Care & global Outreach

OUTREACH

At Sojourn, we are pleased to partner with outreach ministries in three distinct areas: Local Care, Global Outreach, and Cross-Cultural Missions. Please hover over or tap one of the images below to learn more about each of these unique areas we serve and to learn how to get plugged in yourself.

At Sojourn, our love for our neighbors looks like serving our local community. Our Local Outreach Team's goal is to organize and equip our Body to serve our community. Our mission is to love, serve, and meet the needs of those around us; strengthening families, sharing the gospel, and healing the broken. Click here for more info

Patrick and Joy have planted their lives in Bangkok, Thailand long-term in order to build relationships with Thai people and ultimately see a generational, Christ-ward movement take place among ethnic Thai Buddhist families in their local community. Click here for more info and to learn how to give to them!

Sojourn desires to be a missional community, meaning we long for the gospel to go out beyond our community and reach the, “ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8) and “all nations” (Mt 28:19). While this has tremendous implications for how we live our lives in America, we are convinced that in response to these biblical mandates and the overwhelming spiritual and physical needs around the world, we must put energy towards communities around the world. Local Care

At Sojourn, our love for our neighbors looks like serving our local community.  Our Local Outreach Team's goal is to organize and equip our Body to serve our community.  Our mission is to love, serve, and meet the needs of those around us; strengthening families, sharing the gospel, and healing the broken.

Sojourn Church partners with local organizations that reach families all over East Cobb:

Brumby Elementary School

Atlanta Angels Chapter

First Care Women's Clinic

We are also a part of Cobb Benevolence Group, which consists of local churches and social workers collaborating with various ministries to meet urgent needs like food shortages, shelter, and support.

Because Christ first loved us, we desire to meet tangible needs and support those around us.

To find out more, email our Local Care Director, Mike Marotta.

 Current Local Opportunities

  • Brumby Teacher Workroom Staffing

Sojourn supports the Brumby Elementary School faculty throughout the school year by providing four volunteers each Thursday morning. Volunteer responsibilities include copying, cutting, laminating, stapling, etc.

There are a few slots left this Fall. Please consider volunteering before the end of the semester! It might seem like a small commitment, but we know that collectively it goes a long way toward meeting a very real need in our community.

Sign up for your slot here.

If you have any questions, please contact Mike Marotta or call him at (770) 286-8869.

Thank you for loving our neighbors so well!

  • Brumby Holiday Breakfast Food Drive

The Brumby Food Pantry is making preparations for Christmas break. They want to give the families a boost just before the kids go on break in December. Sojourn has been asked if we would help by collecting breakfast items to stock the pantry for the Christmas boost. During the month of November, we are collecting the following items at the church:

    Pancake mix (just add water)

    Syrup

    Muffin Mix

    Instant oatmeal packets

    Instant grits

    Cereal

    Breakfast bars

    Breakfast biscuits/cookies (Belvita)

    Pop Tarts

    Jelly

    Hot chocolate packets

Please consider picking up these items on your regular grocery shopping trips during November. You can leave them in the designated bins in the church lobby. We'll be emptying the bins and making deliveries throughout the month to the food pantry.

The folks at the food pantry and the families they feed appreciate our support!

 Global Outreach

Sojourn desires to be a missional community, meaning we long for the gospel to go out beyond our community and reach the, “ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8) and “all nations” (Mt 28:19). While this has tremendous implications for how we live our lives in America, we are convinced that in response to these biblical mandates and the overwhelming spiritual and physical needs around the world, we must put energy towards communities around the world.

Thus, as a church, we want to be intentional about equipping and sending qualified leaders to communities in need, supporting those already there, and regularly seeking to stir our hearts for a world desperate for Jesus. We echo the psalmist when he says “Let the nations be glad and sing for joy” (Psalm 67:4a)
