As a team, we are dedicated to serve east Cobb. Our hope is to create an opportunity for broken people to experience Jesus through living in authentic community together.
Ernie and his wife, Alex, felt called to plant Sojourn in 2009. After years of preparation they took a leap of faith, and planted Sojourn in the fall of 2012. Over the 5 years of leading this community, they have become more convinced than ever that the local church is Jesus’ means for authentic community, spiritual growth, and true transformation.
Growing up in the Northwest Metro Atlanta area, Ernie had dreams of becoming a sports commentator and one day working for ESPN but Jesus had other plans. In the midst of college Ernie felt a call to pastoral ministry and he changed his major to Bible/Theology to pursue the passion God put in his heart. After graduating college and moving back to Atlanta, Ernie and Alex started dating and dreaming about a life together. Two years later they were married and now have the joy of raising two boys, Judson (6) and Luca (1) with another baby boy on the way!
Because of Ernie's experience growing up in what is informally called, 'the Bible belt', he has an especially tender heart for those who have become jaded with the church and those who have given up the thought that Jesus is actually someone worth trusting. Alex and Ernie deeply desire to see the good news of Jesus transform many in East Cobb as well as throughout the world.

Dawn is the Sojourn Kids Director, pastoring and leading volunteers, and equipping our parents to encourage their children in The Word. She loves this role in the church and the ways that she can serve and minister in this growing ministry.
Dawn met her husband, Stephen, who was a student at Georgia Tech, while she was a student at Georgia Baptist College of Nursing, at a small church next to campus is 1997. They were married in 2001 and after working as an engineer and a nurse for a little over a year, they decided to try ministry together and moved to Costa Rica for a year and a half. Living overseas and serving together was a wonderful season for them and they still consider that their "honeymoon."
They moved back to The States in 2004 and moved to Durham, NC where Dawn worked at Duke University Medical Center and Stephen received an MBA. Then back to Atlanta where they had their first son, Sam. Over the next several years, Dawn worked as an Oncology Nurse and they adopted two children from China, Kate and Charlie.
During these past few years, Dawn has become passionate about loving hurting children well and equipping parents to do the same. She is an advocate for her children with special needs and enjoys empowering parents new to the game. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, going to the movies and writing on her blog www.findingpeaceinthechaos.org.
Jake was born in Cedartown, Georgia and grew up in the West Cobb Area. His parents led him to Jesus at 10 years old, he was baptized soon thereafter, and has been involved in music ministry since he was 14.
The Lord showed Jake a vision as a teenager in church in which the roof of the place just disappeared, the heavens opened up before him, all creation was singing God's praises, and he clearly heard Jesus calling him to devote his life to worship ministry. For two decades now, Jake has been leading worship with his guitar in the Metro Atlanta area, and has now found a home with Sojourn. His desire is to see Sojourn transformed and emboldened by the Spirit of God to thrive and bring glory to the name of Jesus.
He and his wife Natalie married in 2003, and together they have 4 incredible children - Asher, Abram, Indie, and Ivy.
